STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES (SOP) FOR STUDENT DISCIPLINE

 

  • In order to maintain decorum, discipline, and a safe learning environment within the school premises, the following Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) shall be strictly  implemented with immediate effect.
  • All students and parents are required to read the same carefully and sign the declaration below as an acknowledgment of acceptance and understanding of the
    implications in the event of an indiscipline issue.
  •  There shall be no compromise on the penalties imposed.
  •  These rules shall apply from the moment a student boards the school bus and shall continue throughout their time on school premises, and the same standard of behaviour is always expected.
    Note: In all the below-cited indiscipline cases, the student becomes ineligible for Student Council membership or any school representation.

1. FIGHTING/PHYSICAL VIOLENCE

  •  First occurrence: Suspension for 15 days
    Reinstatement: Only after submission of a parental affidavit undertaking that such behaviour shall not recur.
  • Second occurrence: Suspension for 30 days.
    Reinstatement: Only after submission of a parental affidavit acknowledging repeated misconduct, treated as a final warning before expulsion.
  •  Third occurrence: Considered a habitual offence which will lead to expulsion from the
    school.
    Note: In all cases, parents shall be called and asked to report to the school on the same day and the student will be sent home.

2. FIGHT/ASSAULT WITH WEAPON OR SHARP OBJECT

Consequence: Immediate expulsion from the institution.
Furthermore, the matter shall be reported to the concerned law enforcing authorities for necessary legal action.

3. USE OF ABUSIVE LANGUAGE (VERBAL)
Cancellation of games and sports privileges for one month.

Reinstatement: Only after submission of an affidavit by the parent/ guardian undertaking that such behaviour shall not recur.
For repetition: Privileges will be withdrawn (games, picnics, camps) for the whole year.

4. USE OF ABUSIVE/ DEROGATORY LANGUAGE IN WRITTEN FORM
(Including remarks against teachers or fellow students.)
Consequence: Strict disciplinary action, including suspension or expulsion, depending on severity.

5. POSSESSION, USE, OR SALE OF PROHIBITED SUBSTANCES
(Including vapes, e-cigarettes, tobacco, drugs, intoxicants, or contraband items)
Consequence: Immediate expulsion from the institution.
Furthermore, the incident shall be reported to the concerned law enforcement authorities depending on the severity of the offence.

6. POSSESSION OR USE OF LIGHTERS, MATCHBOXES, INFLAMMABLE MATERIAL, POP POPS OR FIRECRACKERS

If in possession, suspension for the first offence.
Reinstatement (in case of suspension): Only after submission of a parental affidavit undertaking that such behaviour shall not recur.
Repeated offence: Expulsion from the school.
If used and causes damage to school property or harm to any person, immediate expulsion along with a monetary fine as assessed by the school authorities.

7. USE OF MAKEUP, NAIL EXTENSIONS AND CONSPICUOUS HAIR COLOUR
 First Instance: Parents shall be called and asked to report to the school on the same day and the student will be sent home to rectify appearance, affidavit to be
submitted.
 Second Instance: Privileges withdrawn (games, picnics, camps) affidavit to be submitted as final warning.

8. CONFISCATION POLICY (PHONES, WATCHES, SMART WATCHES, GADGETS, GOLD EARINGS, CAMERAS AND COSMETICS)
Phones/ Smart phones/ Tablets/ Smart watches: returned only at the end of the academic session to the parent/guardian.
Make-up items / Prohibited merchandise: Not returnable

9. VANDALISM / DAMAGE TO SCHOOL PROPERTY
Consequence: Strict disciplinary action and monetary fine as per the following scale:
 Glass/Lights/Fire extinguishers – Rs. 5,000
 Furniture Rs.10,000
 Electronics (Computers, CCTV cameras, etc) – Rs. 25,000
 Smart Boards – Rs.1,00,000
 Bus vandalism – Rs.10,000
Additional requirement: An affidavit must be submitted.
Repeated offence may result in suspension or expulsion.

10. UNIFORM DEFAULTERS
First Instance: Withdrawal of games or privileges.
Repeated offence: May attract disciplinary warning or suspension.

11. BULLYING/ HARASSMENT (VERBAL OR PHYSICAL)
Suspension or expulsion depending on the severity of the offence.
In case of suspension, reinstatement will be granted upon submission of a parental affidavit

12. LATE COMERS
Students arriving late to school shall not be allowed entry beyond the main gate. They will be sent back home immediately, and attendance for the day will be marked absent.
Repeated late coming may attract further disciplinary action.
